CHRYSALIS/2022
Durational Performance
The four-hour performance investigated the journey of holometabolism. Two conjoined bodies employ tape as a medium for transfiguration. Meticulously crafting a cocoon around them, they then incubate within it, and then finally dislodge from each other. The performance invites contemplation on otherness, integration, and connection to its public. Situated amidst the bustling streets of the East Village, the piece commands attention and elicits a myriad of responses from onlookers, ranging from introspection to aggression. Ultimately, what remains in the aftermath of the performance is an abandoned relic—a surrendered armor, an exoskeleton preserving the remnants of purged experiences, symbolizing growth and the things we surrender.
